Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and respected team of Wellbeing and Transition workers, delivering Emotional and issue-based Wellbeing support to children and young people on a 1:1 and groupwork basis in Schools, offsites and where requested, on an outreach basis across Leeds and Wakefield.

We are looking for people passionate about support young people’s emotional wellbeing that have experience in delivering health and wellbeing support to young people; primary age, secondary age or 16-25 years old.

We have a number of services and therefore as a Casual Staff Wellbeing/ Transitions Worker you’d provide support to young people via one of our Wellbeing Services;

  • AIM Project – Key stage 4+ Children in care, Care-Experienced or Leaving Care
  • Wellbeing in Primary / Secondary Schools – 1:1 support and/or Group Work Programmes
  • Transitions – post CAMHS support/intervention
  • SEN support – for secondary age young people disengaged from school settings
  • Drop-in support / Short-term cover
  • Community, Health and Prevention Events/Workshops

You will be required to work restoratively to support a caseload of vulnerable young people (or a single case/young person) and work closely with Schools, parents and/ or other agencies and sometimes commissioners directly. Wellbeing workers will carry out assessments, maintain case records and provide an end report for every young person supported.

We are looking for candidates with experience and a passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people, with a good knowledge of Safeguarding, an ability to act as an advocate where appropriate and confidence when working autonomously as well as part of a team and across services.

All services and therefore hours will involve providing short term, support for children and young people referred for support through schools and clusters or direct commissioners such as Local Authority or CAMHS (typically 8 weeks, but Transitions/ SEN and AIM Project are longer)

Work Type

As we have a number of Wellbeing Services, there will be a fluctuation of casual work opportunities at any one time and there is no expectation to commit. All work will be agreed on an individual basis. However once hours per week have been agreed we’d expect that you would commit to supporting the young person for a number of consecutive weeks depending on the intervention length (unless the work is based on support for drop-in or short-term cover or a specific event). The minimum number of weeks would be 7/8 consecutive weeks and existing appointments that may impact on this frequency must be discussed before starting – we can be flexible around this, if one week needs to be missed, but we must discuss first considering the young persons needs first and foremost.

Benefits

  • You’ll be offered recruitment and development opportunities such as training (where appropriate) across GIPSIL and through Consortium Third Sector partners.
  • You’d be able to pick up cases when you wish with no obligation
  • You’d benefit from free training
  • You’d receive Supervision when you are actively providing support
